Colorado Shade Systems: Snow, Wind & Site Planning
Colorado is part of the design.
Elevation coordinates the site information, product selection, and installation scope. Licensed professionals establish the project’s structural and geotechnical design.
01
Snow & roof design
The address and elevation start the snow-load conversation. Nearby roofs, drifting, sliding snow and the selected louver position can affect the design. Ground snow load and roof design load are different values. We coordinate the project criteria, roof configuration and supporting structure with the responsible engineer.
02
Wind & exposure
Open terrain, foothill exposure, roof height and surrounding buildings affect wind demand. Screens and privacy walls add surfaces that catch wind. The design follows those forces through tracks, beams, posts, anchors and foundations. Published wind speeds only become useful when their design basis and configuration match the project.
03
Soils & foundations
Colorado’s expansive soils can swell with moisture and shrink as they dry. Fill, slopes and drainage can further change foundation behavior. We coordinate structural and geotechnical input where needed, including bearing, uplift, frost considerations and foundation type. A paver surface or an existing slab is not automatically a structural footing.
04
Thermal movement
Sun-warmed aluminum and overnight cooling create temperature movement. Long runs, mixed materials and screen openings need the manufacturer’s specified clearances and connection details. We coordinate movement allowances, drainage and finish transitions so the architecture and working components are considered together.
COMFORT THROUGH THE SEASONS
The right product. The right operating plan.
01
Wind comfort & structural wind design
Reducing drafts on a patio and resisting structural wind loads are different jobs. Select a screen for comfort, then verify its assembly, support and operating limits for the location.
02
Sun, runoff & freeze–thaw
Coordinate roof drainage and outlet locations with the patio and landscape. Keep gutters and screen tracks clear, and follow product instructions before operating parts affected by ice.
03
The complete installation
We connect product selection with site review, engineering coordination, permit requirements and construction planning. Licensed professionals establish final structural and geotechnical design; Elevation Build Co. coordinates the agreed installation scope.
THE DETAILS MATTER
American manufacturing. Precisely described.
Primary louvered roofs — Michigan
Forever identifies domestic extrusion, coating and fabrication for its core roof components. The selected roof, controls and accessories are confirmed individually.
Motorized screens — custom made in the USA
Fenetex describes domestic custom manufacturing using imported parts. We retain that qualification when describing its screens.
Pavilions, pergolas & gazebos — made in the USA
Elevation Shade identifies its 2026 structures collection as American made. Material construction and maintenance vary by model.
Architectural privacy — U.S. manufacturing options
Globus documents U.S. manufacturing for its aluminum fence products. Knotwood’s U.S. range is manufactured in Phoenix, Arizona. We confirm the specified profile, finish and accessories.
Fabric shade structures — Texas fabrication
USA SHADE documents steel fabrication in Dallas. The fabric and complete component specification are confirmed for your project.
Retractable awnings — U.S. assembly, Spanish frame components
Elevation Shade describes U.S. assembly and identifies Llaza in Spain as its frame-component supplier. This is a different origin description from an entirely American-made product.
